OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR WORLD

 

When I think about environment my mind is filled with beautiful lush trees, scenic beauty of mountains covered with clouds, sunlight shining through a canopy, river streaming and much more come to mind. Could you blame me? Indeed the world that we live is a beauty that beholds the eye.

But with human greed this beauty has been suffering much more than it should .It high time that we look to protect the beauty without causing harm to it anymore. As a postgraduate student studying towards environmental science and studying on topics such as sustainability, eco efficiency, circular economy, cleaner production have definitely helped me in understanding the world around me and the negative effects caused by pollution and many other activities.

Many of us think that being a student, we don’t have time to think about the environment .Attending lectures, doing assignments and studying all around the clock leaves us with no think to think anything else. But I believe that if you are passionate enough to change the way you look at things, then definitely there’s time and space to do everything –even taking care of the environment!! .

The easiest ways that a student can contribute which pretty much I do following “GO GREEN “are:

·         Taking notes electronically: We live in a digital world and technology is advancing every second. Take advantage of it! By this way, you can save paper and still get your work done.

·         Reusable Bag Practices: One of the best methods to stop increasing of plastics is to use reusable bags to do grocery shopping .Always carry a reusable bag along with you when doing grocery shopping in Coles or Woolworths and save the environment!

·         Power off: When using your phones, laptops or electrical devices, we are consuming energy which is fine but the problem arises when there’s too much consumption because we simply don’t turn off devices after use. Stop doing that! Power down your devices whenever you are done with work.

·         Buying better brands: I am proud to say that I support ecofriendly, cruelty free and environmentally responsible brands. You may feel that it may be expensive abut I can assure that there are brands even which students can afford without drilling a hole in their pockets!

I truly believe in this statement .For years we have been talking about the pollution and garbage and harmful chemicals that’s destroys our environment. It’s been said time and again that if we continue to damage this environment, we may not have anything left .Environmental activists have been screaming loud and clear about saving our environment, our planet cause we only have one and there’s no Planet Period. So let’s join in this change and help our mother nature to have that beauty which beholds our very eyes!
