Image
“Everything is theoretically impossible until it’s done”  – Robert A Heinleia Being a university student is a daunting task; I can definitely vouch for that! From uni work, to friends, to events, to networking, to job searching, everything seems to be very overwhelming. From my perspective, being a university student is not only about studying – it’s also a quick glance at your future life. University provides you with a stepping stone to experience life as a professional without yet working in your profession. This experience is profound and will help you have a smooth transition from your studies to your professional career. This is the reason why I want to share with you my top 5 mantras that I have tried and tested (they surely work!), for the best experience of uni life:    E ngage Yourself: Engage yourself with the opportunities that are being provided to you. Take the first step! Don’t be afraid. A lot of people don’t engage just because they feel scared, an...

The experience of Work integrated Learning at Griffith University!!

“It is what we already know that often prevents us from learning” -           Claude Bernard This is exactly one of the sole reasons for me to do WIL at Griffith University .Being an engineer involves me to have enough practical and worldly knowledge for me to solve problems in an efficient and creative manner. As engineering is all about using science to find creative practical solutions, I al need to be in environment where I can work with challenges and upskill my technical acumen. As an international student doing my postgraduate studies in Electronics and Energy Engineering, I heard about the “Community internships” during my first year .I had then and there decided to utilize my summer vacation and do something productive .And thus, I took the opportunity to enroll myself for community internship for Trimester 3.I have to say that, taking this opportunity wasn’t that easy .I was pretty nervous with regard to the internships...

Our Backgrounds

"We are all different, which is great because we are all unique. Without diversity, life would be very boring" -Catherine Pusifer   This couldn't be far from truth. When I planned to study in Australia as an international student, one of my main motive behind it was to know and understand an entirely new culture and people. Having a network of friends or colleagues form different background not only helps you in having a great social outlook towards people from all walks of life but also helps you in understanding cultural differences and embracing it wholeheartedly.   For me, embracing my own cultural had taken some time. You see, being born in United Arab Emirates which is a Middle Eastern country while having an identity of Indian due to my family background was itself amusing yet confusing. I grew up in an environment wherein my tastes, interests were all combination of Indian and Middle Eastern preferences. Naturally ,I also studied in a culturally diverse school ...

Friends may change but memories last forever.... That’s exactly how I feel! Being away from home, family and studying in a new country that I have never been before was overwhelming to the point that I thought I couldn’t do it .I was scared and alone. Being an introvert, I wasn’t the type to make friends or socialize well .I usually kept to myself drowning in my emotions and feelings. I still remember the plane ride from Dubai to Australia thinking about how I am I going to survive my two years of postgrad studies away from the closest people in my life ? Will it be possible for me to thrive?. Thankfully, I got my answers through my mates that I made at Griffith University. On my first day of uni,I was lost finding the class for my orientation until I met a girl .Dressed to tens ,she looked at me cheerfully and asked me my name. ‘Kavya”, I said my name and she smiled and said “I Think we will; be good friends” she said .That’s my first memory with Kanthi, with whom I have been friend...
