TOP 5 TIPS FOR HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS IN YOUR STUDIES

Image
“Everything is theoretically impossible until it’s done”  – Robert A Heinleia Being a university student is a daunting task; I can definitely vouch for that! From uni work, to friends, to events, to networking, to job searching, everything seems to be very overwhelming. From my perspective, being a university student is not only about studying – it’s also a quick glance at your future life. University provides you with a stepping stone to experience life as a professional without yet working in your profession. This experience is profound and will help you have a smooth transition from your studies to your professional career. This is the reason why I want to share with you my top 5 mantras that I have tried and tested (they surely work!), for the best experience of uni life:    E ngage Yourself: Engage yourself with the opportunities that are being provided to you. Take the first step! Don’t be afraid. A lot of people don’t engage just because they feel scared, anxious and overwhelm

MY STEPS TO BE JOB READY WITH GRIFFITH SCIENCES PLUS PROGRAM

“SCIENCE KNOWS NO COUNTRY, BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE BELONGS TO HUMANITY AND IS THE TORCH WHICH ILLUMINATES THE WORLD” – LOUIS PASTEUR This quote is one of the few reasons why I chose the path of Science and technology.  My name is Kavya Santhosh and am currently a final year postgraduate student at Griffith  University studying a double degree in  Computer Science, Electronics and Energy Engineering  (after achieving my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from my home country India (Kerala).  Science excites me. Yes it does! The curiosity of each person’s imagination and thoughts could be turned to reality when one chooses science. That very curiosity is what got me into science leading eventually to a path in engineering. From a young age I had a real interest in science being part of school science clubs, partaking in school projects and representing my school in science exhibitions and national competitions. So it was a natural decision to pursue my c

THE RABBIT HOLE OF KOREAN ENTERTAINMENT 👍

"Not shy ,Not me (ITZY) I want it all, all ,all (Yeah) Not Shy, not me 😍 "                                         - K-POP GROUP ITZY “Not shy” That’s exactly what I am listening to these days 😆!.                     I know it’s a little late to the world of K-pop but I had worlds of entertainment growing up. Being an Indian growing up in multicultural country of United Arab Emirates (or as people commonly refer as DUBAI!😏) Bollywood was all I know; with a mixture of Arab entertainment too. Bollywood is what grew on. It was the medium that did give men feelings and fantasies. The slow motion turn, the dances between scenes (even though thinking now it made no sense) was what happy growing up meant. Obviously, a feeling of familiarity was also indicated with Bollywood. But that all changed when I went to India for my graduate studies. You would think how come being in India made me get into Korean entertainment .Si

The experience of Work integrated Learning at Griffith University!!

“It is what we already know that often prevents us from learning” -           Claude Bernard This is exactly one of the sole reasons for me to do WIL at Griffith University .Being an engineer involves me to have enough practical and worldly knowledge for me to solve problems in an efficient and creative manner. As engineering is all about using science to find creative practical solutions, I al need to be in environment where I can work with challenges and upskill my technical acumen. As an international student doing my postgraduate studies in Electronics and Energy Engineering, I heard about the “Community internships” during my first year .I had then and there decided to utilize my summer vacation and do something productive .And thus, I took the opportunity to enroll myself for community internship for Trimester 3.I have to say that, taking this opportunity wasn’t that easy .I was pretty nervous with regard to the internships offered. Also I was sacrificing my vacation to v

Our Backgrounds

"We are all different, which is great because we are all unique. Without diversity, life would be very boring" -Catherine Pusifer   This couldn't be far from truth. When I planned to study in Australia as an international student, one of my main motive behind it was to know and understand an entirely new culture and people. Having a network of friends or colleagues form different background not only helps you in having a great social outlook towards people from all walks of life but also helps you in understanding cultural differences and embracing it wholeheartedly.   For me, embracing my own cultural had taken some time. You see, being born in United Arab Emirates which is a Middle Eastern country while having an identity of Indian due to my family background was itself amusing yet confusing. I grew up in an environment wherein my tastes, interests were all combination of Indian and Middle Eastern preferences. Naturally ,I also studied in a culturally diverse school

EXPERIENCING THE JOY OF COMMUNITY

Image
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about” .This quote by Margaret J Wheatley perfectly defines the importance of a community. I feel a community can only be built if there are compassionate and passionate souls who love to join forces and help others. My experience of being part of a community has been a journey so as to say. Coming to Australia for doing my postgraduate degree was one of the best decision that I have made in life. But along with great decisions does come great difficulties. Adjusting to a new country ,culture and people are never easy .I ,being an introvert found it difficult to engage with people around and would quietly sit in my room lost in books, laptop and music!. I often thought to myself “who cares if I go out and actually engage in the community that I am in? As long as I have these materialistic things I am fine!” To think that I could survive like this was just an understatement! Within 3 months, I understo

OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR WORLD

Image
When I think about environment my mind is filled with beautiful lush trees, scenic beauty of mountains covered with clouds, sunlight shining through a canopy, river streaming and much more come to mind. Could you blame me? Indeed the world that we live is a beauty that beholds the eye. But with human greed this beauty has been suffering much more than it should .It high time that we look to protect the beauty without causing harm to it anymore. As a postgraduate student studying towards environmental science and studying on topics such as sustainability, eco efficiency, circular economy, cleaner production have definitely helped me in understanding the world around me and the negative effects caused by pollution and many other activities. Many of us think that being a student, we don’t have time to think about the environment .Attending lectures, doing assignments and studying all around the clock leaves us with no think to think anything else. But I believe that if you are passi
